When doing a Rat Exclusion in an attic, we keep the customer informed as to how we approach the problem. It is an education for them as to how this became a problem and explains how Rats have infested the attic. If you don’t find where Rats are coming into the attic, putting traps up there really only solves part of the problem.
In this particular scenario, the roof had issues we addressed first. Once that problem was remedied, we looked for evidence of where the Rats were and set traps (not poison bait) in active areas. One area of concern was that there was activity near the water lines (red and blue tubes) that could easily have been destroyed causing several thousand dollars in damage. Another area of concern was the AC unit which had pretty severe activity in and around the unit.
